Testimony

Mukandakezi from Gasiza in Rulindo province gives this testimony from a recent healing and reconciliation retreat.

Whenever you let God work in your lives, what follows is a miracle. The teachings about the healing of the heart has helped us a lot, especially the meaning of the cross. I was reminded of four areas – the love, grace, power and justice of God. On the cross there is true forgiveness, without doubting.

I have a testimony from the past talk. When we were sharing about forgiveness, we talked of two ways – offering and asking for forgiveness. To ask forgiveness may be easier than to offer when you are not asked. But when you trust Jesus I realise it is possible. There was something which hurt my heart very much. Whenever I went to church my heart was always hurting. One night I was trying to pray but failed totally. The picture of that person would always come in front of me. So I started to forgive so that I could get peace of heart. When I did that the pain went and I relaxed and gained peace.

The one who had caused my anguish started to fear because of what he had done to me. I met him at one of the Healing and Reconciliation seminars and I saw him hiding from me. So I decided to go and see him and I took him outside and we shared all the details of what had happened. I told him “I really forgive you”. I wanted him to understand he could really gain freedom. He asked me “How can you forgive the one who has never asked for forgiveness?” and I answered “From Jesus, He is the One who gives peace of heart” and now our relationship is restored.
